Hybrid parkland course on links site

Siam Country Club Bangkok, a splendid addition to the prestigious Siam Country Club family, is conveniently situated just 30 minutes south of the bustling metropolis of Bangkok. Designed by Toby Cobb, this championship 18-hole course spans an impressive 7,250 yards, featuring Zoysia grass for its fairways and ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass for its greens. Notably, this course marks Cobb's debut solo project following his tenure with Coore & Crenshaw and Tom Doak.

Distinguishing itself from the golf courses in the vicinity, Siam Country Club Bangkok can be described as a hybrid course – a rare blend of a sparsely treed parkland course on a links-style site. The fairways generously sprawl with gentle rolling slopes, offering a delightful playing experience. Simultaneously, the elevated and generously proportioned greens showcase strategic catchment areas and artful bunker complexes. Native red grass and thoughtfully crafted mounding frame many of the holes, adding to the course's allure. The semi-rough areas, just off the fairway, are meticulously manicured, ensuring a pleasurable round for golfers of all levels.

The highlight of Siam Country Club Bangkok is the unique 18th hole, which faces the clubhouse's restaurant. This 100-yard par-3 with a large green might appear deceptively simple, but a wayward shot to the left could lead to an arduous challenge – a deep, 3-meter "big ass" pot bunker that demands a true test of escape skills. Some prefer this unconventional finish, as it adds an extra layer of challenge, emphasizing accuracy and distance over a simple short wedge shot.

While Siam Country Club Bangkok does not feature a driving range, and single carts are required to stay on cart paths, most Bangkok golfers are sure to have an outstanding time at this esteemed course. It proudly upholds the Siam Country Club brand's tradition of excellence, making it a valuable addition to the golfing landscape.
