Ballyshear Golf Links

Members-only links course designed by world’s #1 architect Gil Hanse

Ballyshear Golf Links (Ban Rakat Club) introduces an exciting golfing experience with the Gil Hanse-designed masterpiece, Ballyshear Golf Links. This 18-hole course, highly anticipated on the global golfing stage, pays tribute to one of golf's most renowned 'lost courses.'

Gil Hanse, a sought-after golf course architect renowned for renovating three out of four US Open venues, including Winged Foot (2020), The Country Club (2022), and Los Angeles Country Club (2023), has crafted a golfing gem at the former Kiarti Thanee Country Club site, just outside Bangkok, Thailand.

Situated a mere 40 minutes from downtown Bangkok and a convenient 25 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Ban Rakat Club's Ballyshear Golf Links presents a vintage-style course that will capture the hearts of Thai golfers. It's the first of its kind in Thailand, offering a pure links golf experience characterized by vast water features, undulating greens, and intriguing blind shots. Here, a caddie's guidance is invaluable to conquer Ballyshear.

Hanse's design at Ballyshear pays homage to The Lido Golf Club, a legendary layout by early American course architecture pioneers Charles Blair MacDonald and Seth Raynor. The original Lido, crafted in 1917 along the New York City seaside, quietly closed during World War II. In its heyday, The Lido Golf Club stood as one of the world's premier courses, boasting 18 iconic 'template' holes, including the famous Redan, Alps, and Biarritz designs. At Ballyshear, you'll find these classic templates, with the only alteration being the exchange of holes two and six.

While modern parkland layouts dominate Southeast Asia, Ballyshear's classic design is a rare gem. With Gil Hanse's strong presence in Thailand, this vintage course is set to make waves in the region.
