Thana City Country Club

Thailand’s only Greg Norman design

Thana City Golf Club, conveniently located near the heart of Bangkok, boasts the distinction of being Thailand's sole Greg Norman-designed golf course. The 6,966-yard par-72 layout shares its space with a prominent condominium development and sits adjacent to Suvarnabhumi Airport. It's not unusual to witness jet planes seemingly skimming the fairways during their descent!

Over the years, Thana City has played host to several significant professional tournaments, including the 1993 Thailand Open, the 1994 and 1995 Kosaido Thailand Ladies Open, and the final round of the 1996 Johnnie Walker Super Tour, clinched by Ernie Els. Golf legends such as Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Ian Woosnam, Laura Davies, and Thailand's own Thongchai Jaidee have graced its fairways. In 2011, the prestigious Thailand Open found its home at Thana City.

Between 2012 and 2018, the course and clubhouse underwent substantial enhancements, resulting in a modern and enjoyable golfing experience in Bangkok. Each hole offers its own unique challenges, although the fairways remain resolutely flat, serving as a reminder of its past life as a rice paddy field.

The course is adorned with native trees, flowering shrubs, and creative landscaping, which gives it a coastal links-like feel using plain grasses, reeds, and sand. Strategically placed sand traps, natural streams, lakes, and well-manicured greens enhance the golfing adventure. Thanks to sub-surface drainage improvements, golfers can enjoy play year-round.
