36 holes par 72/72 (7059/7026 yards)
Trent Jones Jr. designed the Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club, formerly known as the President Country Club in 1993. The 36 holes in a natural, rural terrain offer 7,059 and 7,026 yards. The landscape around the club consists of flat fields and open marshlands which are filled with tall grasses and reeds, birds that migrate and numerous fish. The holes on this course have different approaches.
The West/South course is slightly longer than the North/East course. The difference in length does not mean that the North/East course will be easier. The course has technical challenges such as doglegging holes particularly on the back-nine. Open marshes surround the two out-and-back loops i.e. the North (1-9) and East (10-18). The North/East course has a park feel to it because of the water that players have to maneuver through on the doglegging back-nine as well as the bunkers on the green for most of the holes.
Players will have to have excellent approach play to get past the smaller greens that are very close to the bunkers. Each hole is separated by a group of trees and earth mounding. The water found around the course creates water hazards that challenge players. The last hole on the course is a par-4. It has a small lake and green which are also used by the 18th hole from the West/South course.
The outward holes of the West (1-9) and South (10-18) courses are located next to the inward holes. The fairways may appear to be broad, but players need to be careful how they place their drive so that its position is suitable to score. Parallel holes are separated by a semi-rough band. The band, which is made of Bermuda grass, requires a lay-up shot from the player. Bunkers protect greens on this course and run fast and true. Getting up and down these earth bunkers is a tad difficult. There are also subtle borrows on the course.xx The West course undulates more than the South course, making the former one top among the out-and-back loops on the President Golf Club. Players need to avoid marshlands and lakes often. The par-5 18th leads back to the clubhouse.
The clubhouse is reminiscent of Mediterranean style architecture with its elegance and spacious style. The core reason for this design was to allow different activities to be held in the clubhouse. There is a pro shop and a coffee shop which serves Thai as well as International food. The clubhouse also has a Jacuzzi, sauna and outdoor swimming pool. This Country Club has good facilities but it is not this that attracts the majority of visitors. The natural surroundings are its biggest attraction.
